Service Dispatcher

James CRAFT & Son, Inc., a well-established Mechanical Contractor doing business throughout South Central Pennsylvania, has a position available for a Service Dispatcher for our Plumbing & HVAC Service Department.

The Service Dispatcher reports directly to the Service Department Manager and the Sr. VP of Sales & Service.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain service technician schedules and dispatch technicians as service calls are completed.
  • Schedule technician return trips with customers to complete jobs after arrival of parts.
  • Maintain on‐call schedule for service technician and after‐hours service procedures.

Enter service calls, schedules calls, and coordinate with technicians daily.

  • Maintain customer database, ensuring complete, accurate, and updated entry of information.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding company schedule and requested lead times, equipment service, and service invoicing, and general inquiries.
  • Respond to service technician requests.
  • Ensure all service tickets, documentation and reports generated by the field technicians are accurate and complete.
  • Prepares open work order report weekly.
  • Compiles technicians weekly time sheets.
  • Completes any additional assignments as directed by the Service Operations Manager.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Minimum 3 year of experience in related industry dispatch and coordination. Geographical knowledge of service area and/or map reading skills is a plus. Professional & friendly communication and customer service skills. Experience in using Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be detail oriented, have great follow-up/follow-through skills, and the ability to multi-task. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Physical Demands:

An employee working in this position will spend 75% of their time working on a computer and or office equipment.

The tasks of this job allow the employee to stay sedentary position, either sitting or standing.

Project Administrator 

James Craft & Son, Inc., a well-established Mechanical Contractor doing business throughout South Central Pennsylvania, has a position available for a Project Administrator in the Project Management Department.

This is a dynamic position that interacts with all departments in our company. Primary duties are to support the project managers as part of the project team by assisting with project administration which includes, in part; pre-construction coordination, project start-up, meeting contract milestones and requirements, coordinating purchase orders, managing subcontracts and subcontractor compliance, managing change orders and project close-out.

Ideal candidates will be detailed, resourceful, trustworthy, and efficient. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are a must. This position requires a multi-tasking team player who can also work independently to maintain workflow and meet deadlines.

PROJECT ESTIMATOR

James CRAFT & Son, Inc. is seeking a full time Sales/Estimator to join our Estimating/Preconstruction department. Three to Five Years of previous estimating experience is preferred.  Candidates should poses working knowledge of Quick Pen  or similar estimating program. This position serves the commercial and industrial Mechanical HVAC/Plumbing industry. A strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and installation is preferred.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Analyze blueprints, construction drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
Thoroughly review specifications and other documentations for scope or pricing impact items.
Obtain and evaluate material, equipment and subcontractor quotes.
Prepare conceptual estimates for budgeting projects.
Able to communicate, schedule, analyze information and take responsibility for estimating duties.
Communicate with the client, gather all necessary data, and analyze all information in order to assemble complete project cost.
Confer with general contractors/construction managers, engineers, and designers on changes or adjustments for estimates.
Strong teamwork oriented traits.
Learn all software programs utilized in the day-to-day business operations of the company.
Other duties as assigned.

Primary Purpose:
To assemble, install and repair plumbing equipment, products and related systems.

Typical Duties:

  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines and pipe-bending machines.
  • Studying building plans and inspecting structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions.
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, solvents, caulking, or soldering brazing and welding equipment.
  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances etc, using hand and power tools.
  • Direct working engaged in pipe cutting and preassembly and installation of plumbing systems and components.
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.
  • Review blueprint and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
  • Install underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to systems.
  • Install HVAC/Heating related materials, equipment and products.

Primary Purpose:

Supervises and coordinates activities of work crews engaged in the fabrication and installation of plumbing and or sheet metal products and equipment.

Typical Duties:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned crew.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders as needed.
  • Install and direct installation of assemblies in buildings or worksites.

  • Reports violations of policy or safety regulations to proper personnel.
  • Documents job progress via daily reports, jobsite photos, etc.
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems.
  • Attend internal and external job meetings as required.

General Laborer (Entry Level) 

Primary Purpose:

To assist in the assembling, installation and repair mechanical services equipment, products and related systems under the direction of a foreman, mechanics or other supervisory role.

Typical Duties:

  • Manual labor such a ditch digging, material handling or demolition
  • Clean and prepare shops or work sites
  • Clean up debris and construction waste.
  • Receive deliveries to jobsite or shop
  • Preparing materials and assembles for delivery
  • Insulation, painting, and general quality inspections of piping and sheet metal materials and assemblies
  • Assist in basic jobsite or shop record keeping
  • Assist in ensuring a safe working environment through observation, reporting and securing areas of eliminate potential hazards
  • Load and unload trucks and storage areas
