   Frequently Asked Questions

Why are CRAFT trucks Red?

Faros and James W. Craft had a blue 1930 Chevrolet Truck.  Immediately after World War II, Faros ordered a new pickup truck from the Chevrolet Dealer in Mt. Wolf.  He was promised the first Chevrolet pickup truck that came in.  Later, James W. ordered a pickup truck from the Ford dealer-Beshore & Koller-in Manchester.

When the first Chevrolet truck (a blue 1946 pickup) arrived, the dealer succumbed to pressure from another customer and sold the truck to them.  When the Ford truck (a Red 1947 pickup) arrived in Manchester, James W. received it.

That is how CRAFT trucks came to be Red Fords, instead of Blue Chevrolets and they have been Red Fords ever since.

How large is your company?

James Craft & Son, Inc. employs more than 200 full-time employees, has more than 100 (red) trucks in its fleet, and does approximately $25 million in sales per year.

How or why will preventative maintenance help me?

Preventive Maintenance is essential to the proper functioning of HVAC equipment. If preventive maintenance is not performed regularly or if it is done haphazardly, the equipment will require extensive and costly repairs at a later date. This is not just a case of "pay me now or pay me later." It is a case of "pay me now or pay me considerably more, later," and lose reliability in the process.

Why do I see dirt on the ceiling around my HVAC vents?  Is my equipment blowing out dirty air?

It is a common myth that when building occupants see dirt on their ceilings around the HVAC air vents, they assume the HVAC equipment must be blowing dirty air.  With the proper maintenance of HVAC equipment (changing filters, cleaning coils, etc.) this should not be the case.  What we typically find is that the dirt on the ceiling is just good old fashion space dirt that has circulated its way up to the ceiling of the room.  With the velocity of the air discharging from the HVAC vent, this space dirt is blown onto the ceiling and into the nooks and crannies of ceiling tiles, thus leaving a collection of residue and dirt.

Solution:  Vacuum the ceiling and vents on a regular basis with a brush attachment.
